Mauch Chunk Lake Park was completed in 1972 under the Watershed Restoration and Flood Protection Act for flood control and as a recreational facility and public drinking supply for Jim Thorpe.
The Park is approximately 2500 acres, the Lake is approximately 2.8 miles long and roughly 320 acres. The average width is 1400' or a little over a 1/4 mile. Average depth is 25' with depths reaching up to 45'.
Fish in the lake include: catfish, chain pickerel, muskie, large & small mouth bass, perch, bluegill, crappie, walleye, and some trout (Lake at one time was stocked with trout).
